Our mission is to positively impact the world by inspiring youth to reach their full potential through mentoring. TeamMates matches caring adults with youth from the community. The mentor/mentee pair spends one class period together each week at the child's school throughout the school year. The mentor serves as a trusted adult friend and role model to the child and provides hope and vision for the mentee. The program provides continued support of the mentor/mentee matches from the time they begin (typically middle school age) until the student graduates from high school. Enrollment in some type of post-secondary education program is the goal. TeamMates also includes a scholarship program to help students further their education and an option to be part of a post-secondary mentoring program in college.
TeamMates youth often are heard saying "I will never be able to afford to go to college." That is why the scholarship component is so important. If a youth has been a TeamMate for a minimum of two years and graduates from high school, he or she will receive a $500 per semester college scholarship for up to four semesters. This is often the incentive needed to encourage a youth to take that next step.
