This Year's Project: Scoutreach Youth Programs

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to develop values in our youth that will aid them in making ethical choices throughout their lifetime. The values that are depicted in the Scout Oath and Scout Law assist young people in reaching their full potential and becoming contributors to the betterment of society. It aids them in developing citizenship, character and spiritual wellness. We serve Colfax, Boone, Nance and Platte Counties. In 2015, we provided our quality, values-based program to 633 boys and girls through the dedicated guidance of nearly 200 volunteers.

Current Project: Scoutreach Youth Programs

Any donation we receive from the Columbus Big Give is used to fund unparalleled experiences for more youth in the Columbus service area. This includes summer day camp for Cub Scouts, Webelos (4th & 5th grade Scouts) Lock-Ins and Webelos Woods, the ever-popular Pinewood Derby, Rain-Gutter Regalias, Space Derby, Shooting Sports, Merit Badge Clinics, summer resident camp for Boy Scouts, and training for adult leaders.

We will also be using the donations to continue growing our Scoutreach programs for the youth in our afterschool Scouting.  These youth are receiving the traditional Scouting program where they might not have had the chance otherwise.  They learn different topics like emergency preparedness, first aid, family and life skills, fitness, Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM), character development and service.  They also participate in fun activities, games, Pinewood Derby Car races, science experiments, and much more.
