This Year's Project: Camp Pawnee Flood Repair
First and foremost, we are a family: a gathering of people – be they members, guests, staff or volunteers – who leave judgments at the door, celebrate the uniqueness of the individual and support each other in all kinds of ways.
We are also a haven: a place of daily retreat for thousands of Columbus residents. They meet friends, attend pre-school, lift weights, compete, catch a cycling class, go to camp, make plans, achieve goals and grow together.
Finally, we are a resource: a deeply rooted, not-for-profit community service organization with a long history of success in working for the greater good. A place where no one will be denied a chance to participate due to an inability to pay.
Current Project: Camp Pawnee Flood Repair
Camp Pawnee has hosted summer camp, kids and families since 1919. This is the 100th anniversary of Camp Sheldon opening it's gates to thousands of youth, making it's mark on generations of people in Columbus and the surrounding areas.
The spring flooding made a major mess of Camp Pawnee. The roads were destroyed, the buildings flooded and the grounds are covered with debris, trash, logs and branches.
Much work and much money will be needed to get Camp Pawnee back up and running to begin it's second century of impacting lives.
We use Camp Pawnee for our summer day camps. Hundreds of our most important Y members, kids, get to play outside, be away from technology, experience and learn new things in God's classroom - the great outdoors.
All YMCA Big Give proceeds will go towards repairing and improving Camp Pawnee's facilities.
THANKS FOR DONATING! Your gift helps impact the lives of young people in Columbus.
